This book examines the implementation of competency based education in a number of countries. Contained in it are examples of how this new approach to vocatiol education and training (VET) has been developed (and changed) at a tiol level but there are also examples of pilot projects whitin educatiol systems and examples, too, of implementation in particular industries and specific firms. The editors feit that there was the need, alter some 15 years of intertiol experience with competency based approaches to VET to examine what had emerged and changed since its introduction in the United Kingdom. Since that time competency based approaches have been introduced in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, a number of European countries, and in more recent times in México and in Central America.
